Guimaras ‘Paradise Island’ up for tourism development

A little-known but breathtakingly enchanting Marine Reserve in the province of Guimaras holds great promise of becoming a major tourism attraction and give the country’s jewels like Boracay and Palawan a run for their money.

But unless the national government steps in and provide more incentives, the vast tourism potentials of Taclong Island Marine Reserve in Nueva Valencia town would remain regretfully untapped.

In a public dialogue initiated by the Guimaras provincial government, spearheaded by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), PENRO Officer Jessie Vego, accentuated the exigency of placing Taclong Island under the more comprehensive National Integrated Protective Areas of Republic Act 7588 to pave the way for bigger funding and also provide more teeth or authority to existing protective guidelines and lead to the Island’s full development.

I Just Love to Travel

This year is a fruitful travel year for me. I’ve been in and out of Singapore a lot for relaxation and some bonding time with friends. Last May I went to Hong Kong to celebrate my birthday there with a side trip in Macau. Then for a weekend getaway I’ve been to Johor Bahru a lot. I guess it’s because I want something different and something new to discover ones in a while. But to tell you frankly, I just love to travel plain and simple.

Well, who doesn’t want to travel and see different places, right? Just thinking of a summer vacation in Greece, Holidays to Las Vegas, swimming with the sharks in South Africa, diving at the Great Barrier Reef and getting to know the people in Southeast Asia makes me drool. Hays! If only I have lots of money to do all of it. But for now, I’m contented with my weekend in JB, Malaysia or Indonesia in that matter.

Tsim Sha Tsui’s historic Clock Tower

Last month, I was able to visit Hong Kong’s historic Century-old Clock Tower at Tsim Sha Tsui station during our walk at the Avenue of the Stars.

Hong Kong Century old Clock Tower

The century-old Clock Tower is opposite of the Star Ferry terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui on the Kowloon Peninsula. It is all that remain standing of the original Tsim Sha Tsui station of the Kowloon-Canton Railway southern terminus. The clock tower was built in 1915, surmounted by a seven meter high lightning rod and stand forty-four (44) meters high. It is of classical design that remind us of Hong Kong’s colonial past.
